THERE ARE MANY AUCKLAND CITY ISSUES THAT REQUIRE CAREFUL CONSIDERATION FROM THE WIDER COMMUNITY PERSPECTIVE

Protecting Ports of Auckland for Auckland ratepayers

In 2024 the mayor formally proposed privatising Ports of Auckland through a long-term lease to a foreign-owned multi-national.

We led a small group of councillors who upheld the public interest & now in 2025 Ports of Auckland are on track to deliver $1.1 billion in dividends over the next 10 years (reducing the rate burden on residents).

“For lower costs, better returns to Aucklanders & businesses it’s important to safeguard the integrity of our port.”

Western Springs Speedway - a
lesson for all Aucklanders!

After 96 years at Western Springs, Speedway was evicted last year without any say in the future of their own sport - the so-called process little more than a sham. We went to the aid of Speedway because no community group should be treated so disrespectfully. All Aucklanders deserve to be treated fairly & in accordance with due process - and Western Springs Stadium saved for concerts, rugby & speedway!

“If people & community groups aren’t treated fairly, we’ll go into bat for them - that’s our job.”

Billion-dollar transport projects

Last term it was the Northern Motorway Project - this term it’s Penlink - both billion-dollar transport projects. Northern Motorway had extra motorway lanes added, finishing with 10 kms of cycleways.   Penlink started the same year, the largest transport project in the history of the Hibiscus Coast. These large projects transform our roading networks, reduce congestion and improve travelling times.

New $80m Rosedale
Bus Station

Construction of Stage 1 begins early next year. This new station - located between Albany and Constellation - will offer more travel options and greater convenience for Bays residents using the Northern Busway.
